Soren Kierkegaard has desribed God as "the reason for which we live and die."

When you think of God, what does that word mean to you? Fear, love, condemnation, guilt, happiness?

"God" is not some old man with a white beard who sits on a throne in Heaven and basks in our praise and worship. That would be a pretty self-centered and arrogant creature, in my opinion. That "God" does not exist.

I believe that what we call "God" is the process or reality that created/initiated the universe that we live in. A higher level of existence from the physical universe that we occupy.

The complete and total sum of consciousness. The universal mind. The guy who lit the fuze on the big bang. The Boss. The Principal. The Head of the Head Office. The CEO of THE company.

God is the common Parent for All Mankind who is saddened by all the fighting between His children, even those who use the adjective "religious." Figure out the WHY and the what will take care of itself. And many have had bad experiences with bioblogical parents, so this is even more sad for God.

to me, it's simply an idea that man has created, in order to explain the unexplicable.

it is something that's not of this world, so any claim related to God cannot be concretely disputed. if someone says God told them to kill, how can anyone dispute that? if someone says that people must live a certain way, because God demands it, then how can anyone dispute it? in my opinion, things that sound "paranormal" are false until proven true.

i dont understand why the idea of God is any more believable than ghosts, aliens, vampires, or psychics.

God has been described as Being Itself.

To explain this, everything within our empirical experience is being in some mode or limitation.

My being has limits and so does yours. My being is not yours, but there is a commonality between us by the principle of analogy.

But God is Pure Being, absolutely uncircumscribed by limits, so is infinite in all possible perfections.

On mount Sinai, God reveals His name to Moses as "I AM" (Exodus 3:14), which means he is not "I am such and and such" having a qualifier, which would be a limitation.

He is distinct from creation and not to be confused with it, as a system such as pantheism or panentheism would state.

But He is also infinitely close to it and sustainer of its being and prime mover for all processes that act.

Creation reflects God: if we see creation as true, good, and beautiful (before being marred with evil), that is a reflection of God who is infinitely true, good, and beautiful.

Most important of all, God desires to be a Father to us, and has created us for the purpose of loving union with Him in heaven for all eternity.

We just have to say "yes" to this.

I think of almighty. I believe that to be the best way to describe him. God is not bound by time or space, hence his ability to create the heavens and the earth is acceptable. God is almighty because he did create the heavens and the earth. We have yet to manufacture something from nothing, all we can do is rearrange matter and energy.

God created the Universe. Then He created mankind with the ability to praise Him, or reject Him. He didn't want robots, He wanted people to see His creation and to know Him. Jesus explained it well.... read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John for details. How do we know that Jesus was real? He died and then rose from the dead. How do we know he rose from the dead? His disciples were undecided and unsure while Jesus was alive, even though he showed them miracle after miracle. But after he died and rose again He showed Himself to the disciples. After that they would die before they would deny Him. No other acceptable explanation for their faith can be explained. Human nature being as it is.... they saw the risen Christ and believed. Once we understand that Jesus is real then it all makes sense.

A profound question. I'd love to see more like these on here. God is love. And for that I am so very happy. There is one happiness in life. To love and be loved. Have a lovely day.

Mother Nature is God. She is the deity everyone should worship. She is the source of all life, responsible for that which sustains life and dictates every aspect of life . She is actuality, real and tangible, definite and purposeful. No faith required, just respect.
