I'm 20 years old and overweight. I know I'm gonna need a strong board and what not, but what about all the other tech specs? What kind of wheels and stuff? I really want to learn and I wanna lose some weight while I'm at it! Anybody got any tips?

If you go to a specialty shop that sells skateboards, they can help. It also depends on how experienced you are. The chucks should be able to hold your weight and be somewhat tighter, so not to cause you to loose your balance. It is great exercise also. So with that you will loose some weight. But just talk to them, let them know that your new to the sport. It's no big deal to them they are not gonna try and sell you something that wont work. Good Luck

Well you'll get alot of different answers, but i preferd blind boards, the seemed lighter but were just as strong as other brands. As far as trucks go, id have to say independent, Bearings, most people ride lucky but the again i was different so skated, speedmetal (I think been a while since i been on my board). wheels, gotta go with spitfire. A good place to look for all this is www.ccs.com. They have everything and if your not experience i think they still assemble the boards for you.

get a sector nine longboard. They're super easy to ride and perfect to learn on!! i'm absolutley sure you could find one to hold your weight, they're pretty durable. Just go to any skate or surf shop, they should have them there. or you could always order one from their website: sector9.com. good luck.
