My 3 year old got ahold of a black permanent marker last night and drew all over my beige suede sofa. Does anyone know how to remove these black marker stains?

Hi

What you need to do with this stain is use a solvent type spotter. Since you don't have the professional stuff try using orange glo, 409 or acetate. You can also try acetate. If you are using acetate put it on a towel first and blot with towel.
First you will need to do is a test.
To do the test spray the cleaner, using the back edge of the cushion, spray a spot about the size of a quarter and wipe it with a white towel and let it dry on it’s own.

If you get colour transfer onto the towel it is not safe to clean.
If there is no change in colour and no watermark then it is safe to clean.
If there is a watermark but no colour change it is safe to clean, only thing is you will need to clean the whole thing.( to stop watermarks)

If you decide to clean it DO NOT do a lot of scrubbing on the fabric because you can damage the hair that is on the fabric.

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about your couch! I had the same thing happen on my couch with a permanent marker! I surfed the net like a mad woman, but nothing worked. I finally tried the colorox bleach pen. It took the stain right out!

I paid about $4.50 for mine, but I was surfing the freebies today and I saw a link to get one for free!

This will have to be professionally cleaned without a doubt. Using other chemicals on Suede will probably just make matter worse. Get a professional to clean it for you. Look in your phonebook under upholstery cleaners. They will help you. Good luck and take care.

Brasso will leave the plexiglass badly scratched since it contains an abrasive. You can try nail polish remover (acetone), but that might leave the plexiglass clouded.
