I think you are merely infatuated with your teacher since you've already built a fantasy love nest in your mind.
You are still young and your teacher is older than you and may already have a girlfriend of his own. Why don't you stick to your academic objectives and leave love affairs to those more mature.
Should you want to attract his attention academically, then work diligently in the physics subject and try to do better than Faria. Don't let this ruin your relationship with your friend.

Sounds like it is reminding you of some more essential relationship... Father? Older brother? Mother? Lover? Remember, if it's not essential to what you need now, it's probably just reminding you of when you didn't get what you genuinely needed with some other relationship.
