Yes, I have been so tired after a long road trip that I couldn't sleep.

Yes. Absolutely. After going thru a rough divorce a few years ago, I was having a hard time sleeping. much stress still going on. I would go days and days of NO sleep. ended up in the hospital with severe depression after going a few weeks without even blinking my eyes. I was soo tired. But, it was like I couldnt sleep. I was diagnosed with post traumatic stress dyndrome, and apparently this is one side affect that many get. Certain hormone changes take place within a very stressed up person, and tho it made me too nervous to sleep, yet I was very very tired and sleepy. so it was like I was on drugs and was entirely wired up or something. They ended up putting me on some med for ptsd and it allows me to sleep ok. if I dont take the meds I dont sleep. from my understanding, the med does not put me to sleep. but my body stopped making certain hormones, and the med I take creates the natural homone so sleep can kick in. Anytime anyone is under much stress, absolutely this is possible, according to my docs and other patients I have met that were in a lot of stress. Pray. See a herbologist first to see if they can help. if Not, see your doc. Going without sleep for long periods of time is not good on you and can lead to a breakdown, if continued . Check into this. First learn to try and calm down, especially hours before bedtime. sometimes thats all that is needed. cut the caffeins, the stress.... and if that doesnt help, get help Good luck and God bless

I don't think so, when I'm really tired I find it easier to sleep. I guess maybe there's a difference between being tired and being sleepy though, cause you can be physically tired without being sleepy, and vice versa. Hmm I don't know, what was the question again? Oh right no I don't think you can be too tired to sleep.

Yes definately!!

If you normally go to sleep feeling just tired enough then thats how your body is used to going to sleep. Just like we usually like to go to sleep in the same position, with the same amount of light, same pillow etc.

If something is different - then we have trouble going to sleep. The sleep cues are different than normal. Overtired is one of these.

It feels like you get a 2nd wind and sometimes the mind just goes into overdrive!

Try a hot milk and try to go to bed at around same time each night.

This happens all the time to me. Your brain is probably so overworked that you are tired but you can't stop thinking so you can't sleep. The best thing to do is read a book, watch some t.v., meditate, do a puzzle, or something like that.

yes. if your body has been tired for so long, and then you try to sleep it will be hard to do so since your body has been fighting rest for some time. even if you lie down for bed it will take a bit of time for your brain to tell your body thats its time to unwind. hope this helped.
