I think he should. I mean Detroit people keep saying , well he washed it off and still shut them out,, but he would not have taken it out to the mound against the Yankees, A's AND now Cardinals if he didnt think it helped him in SOME way, ya know? Then throw in fact a guy who was Garbage in passed playoffs is all of a sudden not allowing any runs over 3 games and you haveta scratch yer head wondering like..now hold on a minute. Also, just because he leaned off his hand, does not mean he couldt have put the pinetar INTO his glave, like they did back in the day... now , personally, i dont think it helped him, i just think he is SO jacked up and is pitching well, but its an interesting spot MLB is in..should he be suspended for his next start? i think he should.

Im not a Cards fan.. so i could car less what happens. My point is. Rogers cheated.. and ESPN has video of him with the same stuff on his hand in the Series against The Yankees, the A's. and now the Cardinals? Ok, so, he had the same clump of dirt on his hand in ALL THREE SERIES!!? He was cheating? and the camera caught him. MLB will not admit it was pinetar because if they did they would have had to eject him from game as well as suspend him for rest of playoffs, and everyone in Detroit would have screamed bloody murder, THATS why theyre saying its dirt. It was Pinetar. MLB does not want to mar the World Series. But Rogers has cheated.. if it didnt help him, why would you tae it out to mound to begin with. Also, like John Kruk said on ESPN last night.. there isnt a MLB pitcher who would try to pitch with ANYTHING on his hand.. Pitchers are more fastidious than CATS lol

Nope. try again. I want the Tigers to win, i dont like Tony "the Genius" Larussa.. He thinks he invented the game and makes sum of the most assanine managerial decisions. But FAIR IS FAIR! And Rogers should not pitch and only Pom Pom waving Detroit fans, of which i am not, would say Rogers shouldnt be suspended. It's not right. i dont think it's fair.. and thats it, not that i hate the tigers (because i dont), not that i love the Cards (because god knows i dont).. just that why shouldnt Rogers be punished?

Did he cheat? I think so. Should he be suspended? No. The reason is, the Cardinals didn't challenge whether he was using an illegal substance to the home plate umpire so basically there is no conclusive evidence that it was pine tar it's basically his word against theirs. Baseball's commissioner is a former owner who doesn't know how to govern the sport fairly. After all, he let steroids run rampant during his watch and didn't do anything until Congress had to get involved. Do you really think he would suspend someone for using pine tar. I don't.

Dirt on the ball is illegal. Jeez, where do we get the idea it isn't?
You can't say, pick up a white ball and smear mud on it and then pitch it and say it is not a foreign substance.
The rules don't specifically say "dirt" is OK. Is grass OK? Is line chalk OK? What if you drench it in a mud puddle in a rain delay is that OK?
The Ump may have said so, but he was just covering his ***. He's wrong and he knows it. He didn't have the balls to throw out Rogers in Detroit. And La Russa doesn't want his pitchers critiqued.
THink about it - now Cards pitchers have precedent that they can load up the ball!

did not the Yankees in difficulty-free words ought to face Rogers 2 situations in the ALCS? What handed off in the video games he did not pitch in? If the Yankees did not suck, they could have received those video games a minimum of. If the Yankees were solid very last year, does no longer the offense have hit solid anyhow off Rogers? that doesn't appear as if they are getting paid a thousand million money a year too me... pretty in the journey that they ought to whinge about dropping. also this is exceptionally undesirable that i'm a hardcore Cleveland fan who thoroughly despises the Tigers and that i'm nevertheless sticking up for Rogers.

According to baseball's rule 8.02(b) due to the foreign substance CLEARLY visible on his hand, he should have been tossed in the first inning and suspended.
"The pitcher shall NOT... have on his person, or in his posession, ANY foreign substance.
For such infraction of this section (b) the penalty shall be IMMEDIATE EJECTION from the game. In addition, the pitcher shall be suspended for 10 games."
Sorry Georgie... that's the WRITTEN rule of baseball.
Rogers should have been gone... and should NOT come back for the rest of the Series, according to the rules of the game. To do anything else is against the rules. Sorry folks, but it does not limit the substances to JUST pine tar.
By the way... has anyone seen the pictures on ESPN showing similar substances (just not as clearly visible) on Rogers' hand in his games against both the Yankees and A's? In the game against the A's the spot is in the EXACT same spot as it was last night. A fairly ODD coincidence, eh?

He would be if the Umpires felt like it was pine tar and they did not. Plus take a look at the rest of the numbers after he washed his hands he still gave up 0 runs and 1 hit over the 7 additional innings. I do not condone cheating in any way but first you have to prove the umpires wrong before you make these comments.

Like i said in previous answers...even if rogers washes pinetar off his hand...there is still enough residue on his hand to make a difference...also, the umpire never confirmed it was pinetar...check out the article on espn.com "The problem is, nobody actually inspected Rogers' hand. According to Palermo, the umpires "observed" the substance as dirt. Observing isn't the same thing as inspecting, but Palermo dismissed the difference. The umpiring crew, he said, could certainly tell the difference between dirt and, say, pine tar. "
Rogers has sucked in the past against the Yankees, losing 7 in a row...Rogers has sucked in the playoffs...he's 41 years old...he just doesn't magically start pitching lights out...c'mon, give me a break...and if you see the pictures on the front page of espn.com it LOOKS like pinetar

It's tough to suspend a guy with nothing more to go on than a couple of pictures. Yes, he had an odd-looking yellow substance on his hand, but there's no conclusive proof that it was pine tar.
If it's proven that he did something illegal, then he should be suspended. Doing so just on speculation, however, makes absolutely no sense. He's innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around.

1. It is NOT pine tar
2. Kenny Rogers is pitching so well because he is so fired up about winning. Just because he was bad in past post-seasons doesn't mean he can't ever be good. This is life, change can occur at any given moment.
3. Suspension would only result in more controversy and would solve nothing.

Was it for sure pine tar? If so, he should definitely be suspended, cheating is cheating. People will say he still shut them out afterwards, but that is like catching a student with a cheat sheet, taking it away and letting him finish the test. A cheater is a cheater, one way or the other.

Have to prove that it was pine tar first, then he has to get caught using it during a game which results in an ejection, and an automatic ten game suspension. Prove it was pine tar or any other foreign substance, note they said last night that dirt wasnt a foreign substance. I do believe Albert Pujols said it best when he said, "first of all what player doesnt use it".
