Glue traps are the best method to trap rats and mice. I found detailed information at http://pests.in

your options are:

Poison
---------
Pro: gets rid of mice by using their need for food against them.

Con: after they eat it, you don't know where they will end up (i.e. it could eat the poison and then die in an inaccessible place) and it will smell pretty badly when it starts to decompose... and that's usually when you know that the poison has worked.

Traps
--------
Pro: a trap usually can get rid of mice and other vermin and there are many choices when it comes to traps. you can use the more commonly known mouse trap that kills on impact (usually seen in cartoons and in stores), there is the mousetrap that is a cage so it will trap the mouse alive, and there are the sticky traps.

Con: you have to find out where the mice normally are and place the trap there. you must check the traps every day and replace them (if they're disposable) until you are sure there are no more rodents in your flat. if you catch them live, then you must figure out what to do with them (let them free in the woods, give them to someone who need a Guinea Pig, or kill them yourself).

Cat/Mouser
---------------
Pro: a mouse catching cat (aka Mouser) will not only catch and kill the mouse, but usually eat it too

Con: the ability to catch a mouse, while inherent and instinctual, needs to be taught to cats while they are still kittens... usually by their parents. if a cat wasn't taught to be a mouser, the most it can do is play with it for a while (it won't know what to do with it) and then let it go when it gets bored (if it's "playful" battering hasn't killed it already). so unless you know someone who has a mousing cat or are willing to train one from kitten hood, this is not a normal recourse.

Snake
--------
Pro: potentially will kill and eat the mouse

Con: they have to be certain size for this to happen, and it also has to be hungry (some snakes feed only once a week). snakes are reptiles and don't normally move very quickly, so you don't know when it will finally catch all the mice.

First make sure you are not leaving any food sources out that may be attacting mice. Generally...if they can't find anything to eat, they will go elsewhere where there is food. You can by mouse cubes....you put a hint of peanut butter on the bottom of the door, whuch only swings in...then place a piece of cracker with more peanut butter insidr the cube all the way to the back..if you have mice...they will follow the peanut butter trail and become trapped inside of the trap...then you can release them farrrrrrrrrr away from your flat. Good Luck

there are electronic mice scarers on the market - they work by plugging into a socket - the emit a high frequency sound which deters mice, rats etc
they cost between £20 - £30 .
i live in the country and its been an annual problem for us till we bought the scarer. we got ours from one of these inserts in the sunday papers but if you do a search for pest control you should be able to find one
hope this helps

I live in a travel trailer and I had mice from it being stored. I bought ten insect sprayers, or bug bombs, whatever you choose to call them. After that I was never bothered again. Of course now I have 9 cats that live around or under it too. Anyway I have gnats at certain times of the year, but no mice.

get a cat, if you can't have a cat in your flat I would sugest you get some sticky traps, they are less messy and when the mice are caught you wont be able to see them so you can just discard of them without having to look at the mice..

Seal up food and garbage.

Either set traps or get a kitten.

Between a trap and a kitten... the kitten will clear them out more quickly and aren't so messy. (Dead mice to throw away)

try to make sure ur not leaving food source lying around, they eat fats not just cheese so if u do this they will b put off but as u live in london3rd floor find their entry its probably small pipe or hole ,if ur bothered about humane trap go to b&q or a pet store.if u dont care try old fashioned traps with bacon rind.when there gone block all possible holes and make sure u dont leave foodstuff about to attract them again.GOOD LUCK!

Get a cat or fill a jar with pancake syrup and the mice will get stuck in there and you just chuck it out.
