I am looking to start a Chirstan band to play in parks and such... And would like to work up to playing my own stuff but to start I want to do covers can anyone recommend any songs that would be good to start with.... I would prefer if the songs say the name Jesus and not "him".

I would suggest listening to www.klove.com or your local klove station and finding songs that you like. Its going to depend on your voice and the musicians you are working with. If your church doesn't already have a youth band start one and play during youth. Our youth band plays every Sunday night for youth service and once every other month or so they play the contemporary service for the church.

There's a song called "Open the eyes of my heart, Lord". Do a search on it. It has a great rock sound.

I'm very sure your local church has a band. Most do.
