They will have signed up at the UK and Ireland Yahoo site. Rather like my MSN account which when I signed up years ago only gave you the .com option which I've never bothered to transfer over to .co.uk. Many folk from African profess to be from UK cities/towns, presumably because they think it has more kudos.

that is because of the domain name system where each country is assigned a specific domain name, for example, UK is assigned .co.uk and australia is .co.au.
u can have an id on any domain on yahoo since it does not check your country...u can go to www.yahoo.co.uk and register for an email if u want to get an email at ".co.uk". if u go to www.yahoo.com and register for an email account, then yahoo will by default check your country and assign u a domain accordingly.

two things... first, use a change ur IP sofware and make ur IP in UK. another is when you put your location when signing up in yahoo mail, use the location as youre in UK. i know it works...

because ahoo, don't check your nacinality, when you open an account you can open it on your country yahoo, or another country, for exampel i'm mexican living on Mexico, and this account was created before yahoo arrives to mexico. but i can't move my account to mexico.
