Any parent would be concerned about something like this but keep in mind that it may be minor and just a precautionary measure. If it was something that your doctor felt was critical he would have made sure you got an appointment immediately. The problem could range from something that will fix itself in time to one that could require a transplant, just get in as soon as possible to determine how serious the condition is. It is impossible not to worry about something like this. Best of luck, and my prayers are with you and your little one.

Both our children had murmurs as infants. And, of course you should be concerned as a good parent. But, fortunately, what we found out is that there are "innocent" heart murmurs and "non-functional" heart murmurs. Basically, the definition of murmur is the sound the heart makes. Its the abnormal or functional murmurs that can cause problems. Our children have those non-functional murmurs and they are growing out of them. We keep an eye on it, but the doctor and cardiologist are convinced they'll live normal, lengthy lives!

Both of my parents were born with heart mumurs and they lead normal lives - no medication or lifestyle changes for the condition. Most likely the cardiologist will check the size of the murmur to make certain that it doesn't need to be repaired. Best wishes!

Some heart murmurs are nothing to worrry about. My brother and I were born with them and we both outgrew them. Some are more serious. Don't worry until you get news from the cardiologist that it is serious. Good Luck!

my youngest was found with a heart murmur, and he out grew it. My oldest was about 10 when they said that he also had a heart murmur neither had any problems. Most children out grow them at an early age. My youngest had to wear a machine when he was about 3 years old to check him when he was up running around ( he had it on for 24 hours ). I got very stressed over it but everything came out ok..If we didn't get stressed we wouldn't be mothers (smile)

Wait and see what the doc says. Some heart murmurs are not serious at all. My husband has had one for 37 years now and it doesn't affect him at all.
But by all means, get it checked out.

Only if you are a good parent. Of course you should be concerned about your child. The doctor is doing their job by trying to get things checked out and be sure about the health of your baby.

i work for a pediatrician, and we send for consults for this all the time. you should definitely be concerned, but sometimes its nothing. they should send your baby for an EKG and chest xray in the mean time. the ekg will show any abnormalities and if they do they can get your baby in sooner with the cardiologist. if you can make sure you go to hospital/doctor who specializes with children......

I wouldn't be too concerned the same thing had happened when my mom had my brother and it was nothing, he just had a small case of asthma and it went away. Do not be too stressed
