The simple answer is no, of course not. And to some extent they do not get away with it when it goes to far (e.g. Duncan Ferguson, Eric Cantona). Alot of the time the 'assaults' are not serious and they do not cause long term damage. The ones that are dangerous are taken further and investigated by the proper bodies (i.e. the FA), for example the Ben Thatcher incident on Pedro Mendes. At the end of the day the players have more than enough legal strength behind them to sue a fellow player if they wanted to, but it often is not necessary. If your point is regarding the amateur game then it is a completely different argument. This only applies to professional footballers.

absolutely not. i read what happened and frankly i was sickened. these players are ridiculously paid over £100,000 a week just for kicking a ball- and yet for some, they feel the need to headbutt, spit and as you just mentioned biting. if they behaved like that out in a public area, they'd be reported and arrested. there is no place for that sort of thing whatsoever. its intolerable, incondonable and indefensible- even if a player claims he'd been verbally provoked, they shouldn't stoop as low as they have done.

no, there is a lot of video evidence in most football games and the CPS should heavilly prosecute the offenders to the full extent of the law

They shouldnt get any better treatment. What a jerk and whoever is allowing him to do that is a jerk. Is he doing that to you? If so you should sue for assault and the employer for allowing it. I cant believe people do that. Sorry and Good Luck.
