I have it. For twenty bucks a month, you get legal services at any time should you need them. They've helped me with creditors and with past employers. They'll write letters for you and it helps clear up disputes seeing a letter from an attorney in your defense. IT's great to know that if I ever need it, they're there and paid for. If you go past the alloted time, you even get 25% off lawyer fees.

The business part of it isn't so snazzy, though. You have to try to sell the product and you'll make profits off those you enlist and thereafter. Kind of a pyramid. But the actual services are pretty good and worth the 20 bucks.

It is like "legal insurance". You only use it if you get in trouble or are sued. Are you planning either? I have read it is a waste of money.

Read this blog. They state articles about shareholder value increases, profit increases, and stock buybacks. Half are about how much money they make. You are helping make someone else rich!

Or read this: Even they get sued!

Do you want to go throught things like this:

I would get with a local lawyer who knows your state statues better than a group where you are a faceless number.

If you are concerned with getting in trouble or being sued, put the same amount monthly in an interest building account that you can cash out without penalty and use it to pay the lawyer you choose. Don't let the pre-paid legal services scare you into a product that you "may" use or need.

In our "sue happy" country, any one can sue or be sued for any reason - remember the woman who received 93 million for McDonalds coffee be too hot when she spilled it on her? Or the guy who sued the Milk Association because after 38 years of drinking vitamin D milk, he was fat and there wasn't a warning label on the carton? Any legal case has to have merit.

As far as the "Identy Theft protection" services, they cannot do more for you than with a smartly drafted letter. There are plenty of examples on the web and within books to use. And my lawyer only charges $50 if I draft a letter and have him sign it and put it on there letterhead for more impact. I had to do this once during my divorce and it served it purpose as it was fixed.

I had a friend that tried to get me to do pre-paid legal. It is as following:

1. You pay them a set amount per month/week (depends on how you set it up), and then they cover a set amount of legal proceedings that may happen in the future....such as Car Wrecks, Landlord doesn't pay rent, Identity Thefts (that is the big seller)

2. You can go to a class and get certified, and then you sell pre-paid legal, and you get a portion of everything that the person that you brought in brings in, and so on, and so on.

3. It doesn't seem like a bad idea, but it also depends on how much legal trouble that you are going to get into. Their big selling point is Identity Theft.

4. It is Network Marketing, or Pryamid Scheme, as far as payment goes, but you do see a lot of cars with their logo on the back of their windshields.
