They should get a long with out a problem. But, buy another cage. What sex is the mini rex? Lop rabbits grow to be about the same size as a mini rex. If you want a big bunny get a flemish Giant. They can grow to be 50 pounds and they are so sweet.

Rabbits are kinda funny---sometimes they don't want a friend. I had a lop that loved a dog, that was her "friend', but when I got another bunny, she hissed and scratched at him.
You have to kinda test it out, keep them in separate cages, and move the cage close enough so they can see and smell each other, but not close enough where one could bite or scratch the other. Try to introduce them slowly if the cage-thing works out.
And, if it's a male-female combination, make sure one or both are spayed/neutered!

Good luck! Bunnies are GREAT PETS!
French lops are the biggest lop that I know of, and then English Lops but they have the long floppy ears that go onto the ground.

It's not a good idea to keep to rabbits together in the same pen, but you could keep them in adjoining pens where they can see each other.

The largest lop eared breed is the French Lop. The rabbit breed with the largest lop ears is the English Lop.

There are also several other lop breeds:
American Fuzzy Lops, Mini Lops, and Holland Lops

Most rabbits don't like to be cuddled. I wouldn't get a rabbit that is too big because you don't want it to cause a lot of harm to the rabbit you already have. Besides large rabbits are more prone to arthritis. Just go to a shelter and bring your mini rex and let him pick out a mate. http://www.rabbit.org

I would suggest finding a rescue in your area, via one of these sources:

www.rabbit.org

Call them to ask if they will assist you in choosing a friend for your bunny. You should be able to bring your rabbit there and introduce it to the bunnies you like and see who your bunny chooses.
