I cannot believe how many "have to get ahead of all cars they can" and get angry if you do not get out of their way! Following too closely, cutting others off and general non caring about others seems to be norm. I would like to know why.

I wish I knew the answer to that. I feel like I'm the only person I know who doesn't have serious road rage. Even most of my otherwise gentle-natured, well-adjusted friends seem to turn into paranoid maniacs when they get behind the wheel of a car.

Some theorize that it is because being in cars "depersonalizes" the interaction. You don't think of the other cars as being driven by someones mother or brother or best friend....they become this unseen entity that you are in competition with for some strange reason. I personally don't get it, but I guess it sort-of makes sense.

Its just a phenomena of our times. People have difficult jobs or family situations and feel like they can be "on top of things "atleast when they are driving cause they are not " on top" in many other areas of their lives
