Okay, I'm different, and I love thunderstorms... so i was just wondering, which state in the united states has the most frequent and severe thunderstorms? If you don't know scientifically... what would you guess it would be? I'm just curious... because they're great. Am I the only one that thinks so? lol

I remember we had some doozies in Texas... Huge thunderstorms where the lightning would get almost continuous and the thunder felt like it was going to knock the walls down....

Tampa is the leader in major U.S. cities that experience the most thunderstorms per year. The city averages over 100 thunderstorm days per year, while other cities in Florida, including Orlando and Tallahassee, average at least 80 per year. Thunderstorm development is very favorable throughout Florida because of the available warmth and moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. There is a map from the National Weather Service will show the average number of thunderstorm days each year throughout the USA.

Most frequent: Florida.

Most severe: Kansas and Mississippi.

Outside the U.S.: Australia and India get the most severe thunderstorms. Western Europe sometimes gets "European Windstorms" but those are actually more like hurricanes. The worst one hit parts of France and England with 135 mph winds and 175 mph gusts.

Tornado Alley (Central US) is where the most severe thunderstorms and tornadoes form per year. I love storms as well! Chasing a storm/tornado is the best rush a person could have in my opinion! :)
