I believe that sex education should be taught at home.
But.. since everyone has decided that they don't want to teach their kids about sex it is left up to the schools. Then the schools get into trouble from the parents for teaching this subject that the parents don't want to teach.
its a catch 22.
I believe everyone should take a mandatory course on sex and have a license in order to have sex so that everyone knows the dangers and consequences of sex and have gone on record as saying they know and understand. You could also then mark the license as pro-choice or pro-life. That way all you have to do is show someone your card and then they know where you stand on that and can then determine if they want to sleep with you.

Sex education should be taught in school because, a lot of kids will not/cannot talk with their parents about it so then they go to their friends. Well, hate to let you know friends are not always the greatest sources to go to. Sex ed classes will teach kids about all the STDs that are out there and how to prevent themselves from getting one. Maybe if sex ed is taught, kids will not be so pressured to have sex when they are not ready. I believe when you educate you can stop a lot of things from happening.

Well it appears that you have answered your own question. But they should teach it because some parents don't talk to their kids. If nothing else, they should stress the importance of condoms. I usually keep them myself, my partner will never say the famous line, "we don't have a rubber, let me just put the head in"..lol. Young girls should not fall for it and boys shouldn't try it!!!
Condoms, Condoms, Condoms, and I can't leave without saying, no sex is the safest sex!!!

Because there are alot of unwanted pregnancy's because teens do not know where to get the protection. They are afraid to ask their parents to take them to a doctor. They think abortion is the answer when their are many couples out there that would love to have children and they can not. I feel it should be mandatory for teens to learn. There are also many diseases that they teach you about in the class.

Of all the responses, No one really address the question of "Why are (government) schools considered more qualified than parents to teach sexuality to their adolescent children?"
In many states in the US the ONLY "approved" provider of sex eduaction materials is a vendor whose principal means of income is from abortions.....hmmmm.

because they want them to know about it and so they can learn more about it (so they can do something like that when they get married or something and because they want are community to reproduce more) it just a thing they have to teach the students for there education of sex

Well sometimes parents can be too chicken to have that talk with their children. And so if they can't learn it from their parents soon enough, then maybe they should learn it from school before they figure things out for themselves.

because everyone will have sex one day, and the best way for them to do "the right thing" to be be guided by people who actually know what they're talking about. it's not encouraging, it's guiding.

As sad as it is, some parents don't teach their kids what they need to know about sex, that's why they need it in school.
