Actually, the turtle represents creation. From what I know, the turtle dove in the ocean and came back up with mud which formed the continent and is the symbol for Earth. The feather is for honor and to connect the user with the creator.

I am Cherokee, and I've never really understood what all those different things mean. I only know since childhood, I've been facinated with the "owl." As far as the turtle and the feather?
Could it mean, "slow tickle?" Just kidding. I'm going to look into it though, and I'll try to put it on Yahoo Q&A, okay? In the mean time
good luck.

depends upon the tribe. at a gathering of the people this last weekend the Mohawk People say that Muskrat went to the bottom and brought up mud to form the earth on the back of turtle. turtle was the animal upon whose back the muskrat and other animals built an island to catch the body of Sky Woman as She left the Higher Plane to bring life here. this is why the Mohawk People ( and others ) refer to the United States as " Turtle Island."

I agree with the other person that said this before me, it really does depend on which tribe(s) you are referring to.
