I help out at a drama club and am looking for new ideas of games to play in the warm up. The children are between 6 and 10. Please describe any good fun ones to me.

charades!!

statues - the kid stands in a statue position and the other kids have to guess what they are [it could be a hawk, ghost, mouse - anything that fits the season] - and if they can't guess a clue could be a noise or an action and then back to the pose

dance it up - not sure of the real name, but the kids dance to music and then stop when the music stops - whoever stops moving last iis the animal - give them an animal and that is what they act like for the rest of the game [walk like a duck, quack like a goose ....]

when we were little we used to play a game called "Bum Bum Bum". Someone would choose a "job" (we always got a kick out of "person who scrapes roadkill off the road" - haha!) and then march to the people who are guessing saying "Bum bum bum, here I come, all the way from Washington." The guessers would then ask "What's your occupation?" From then out it was like a game of charades where the person acted out their job and the others guessed it. It was a fun twist on charades, and we sure enjoyed it a lot when we were younger!
