Can't help with number two, but I am guessing the song that you are referring to in #1 is MacArthur Park, first sung by Richard Harris

"McArthur Park" - 'Someone left the cake out in the rain and I don't think that I can take it, cause it took so long to bake it, etc., etc'

Art Garfunkel did a cover of a 60's song - "...don't know much triganometry, but I do know one and one is two, and if this one could be with you, what a wonderful world this would be."

I don't know about the second one but the first one sounds like "McArthur Park" and I think it was Richard Harris who did it first. He, you may know, ended up being the first Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films. I may have that part wrong about him singing it, though
