My dilemna: My wife's birthday is coming up and I am not sure what to get her. We have been married for 11 years and she has all the diamonds, pearls, rubies, emeralds, saphire, gold and silver jewelery that she wants and said more would be a no no. She has told me that she doesn't want DVD's, TVs, dinner out or anything out for that matter, no candy, flowers or anything else that would be a waste. She has a new car, we have a new house and lots of stuff. she wants nothing material. Now that I know what she doesn't want, I don't know what to get her. I could give her money but it is hers also anyways. She has let me know that if I get her something she doesn't want she will be upset (and I have experienced that many times). My wife also tells me that she doesn't want anything. We have money, that is not an issue.

I come to you seeking suggestions. What would be a good gift for my wife?

Thank you.

She is not looking for a monetary gift. She is looking for something that tells her how much you love her. For couples who do not have a lot of money, an expensive gift shows sacrifice. You need to plan a romantic day for your wife. Your gift should take a lot of effort on your part. A well thought out letter telling her how great she is. A home cooked dinner, her favorite meal. You could do something around the house that she normally ends up doing, but hates. You are already taking the right first step by taking the time to write this post. Spend thought and time on making her happy; that is all she is looking for.

The best gift of all-yourself. On that day give her attention, time, honesty. When you guys first started dating what was the thing that your wife wanted the most that you couldn't get her. Or something that she told you she wanted when she was a little girl or a teenager that she never got , and she might have later said that she did not want it but you knew deep down inside she wanted it more than anything. Think really hard.
Once you find that special item no matter what get it.
Then you plan a surprise party inviting a few family and friends over.
Early on during the party you present her with the gift in front of all, along with the explanation behind the gift. Then you promise and make a vow to get her everything that she ever wanted and to love her for eternity. Yes you are going to have an 11 year anniversary and renewing your vows to her. Great food, wine, music, vows, the gift she always wanted, love, honesty, yourself, friends, family will be the best gift ever. She will be the envy of all and watch her for the rest of the night, she will glow. Trust me.
Don't chicken out. Do it.
Good Luck ;). Email me I want to know what your plans are starsmoonis@yahoo.com

The most special thing for me (married 6 years) would be a love letter from my husband. Something from his heart that shows how he feels now. So you might think of that, or a poem if you're any good at it, although personally I'd prefer a letter with real feelings. If she doesn't want anything material, then she's probably hinting that she wants something from your heart. Also, you might get her a gift certificate from a photography studio so the both of you can get your picture taken together. Or you can maybe take a photo album or scrapbook and put together some things that remind you of each other and special times. Yeah, a lot harder than running to Hallmark and grabbing a card and a stuffed bear. Good luck!

Romance comes to mind.
Plan a weekend away. Good to the wine country. Schedule her a 3:00 massage and then a night out dancing or an intimate dinner for two. A stroll on the beach at sunset. cuddling by a fire.
Pamper her for a weekend and ask for nothing.
Then give her a card that says "This is the world I wish I could give you every day"

Its an idea

My husband has the same problem with me all the time!

I just feel like we are very lucky to have the wonderful life we have together and we just go get items and things when we want them. No need to wait for a "special" occasion.

But...... My husband is a really good listener and he is really good at getting me things I want.

Has she made any mention of anything lately? And I mean ANYTHING! Even if you thought at the time it sounded silly or maybe she did not mean it.

Maybe.....Take her to the mall or somewhere adn see if she pays attention to something there?

Gosh.....I wish I could help you but I make this stuff so hard on my husband too! She loves you surely being together 11 years you can think of something you could suprise her with? Maybe cook her favorite dinner or hire a sitter for the evening or buy her a steamy romance novel. you can actually have a romance novel made for her with your names in it. That would be kind of sexy after 11 years?

Good Luck with that!

Give her a personal IOU for a massage. Have a gift basket made filled with an IOU for every day of the month. One day, give her an IOU for a home cooked meal by you. The next, give her an IOU for 6 hours of your undivided attention to be spent any way she likes. Next give her a romantic getaway weekend for two.Etc,etc, etc. Get the picture? Fill up the basket with her favorite perfume and gourmet coffee and bath oils. Give her a special engraved heart pendent that says the wearer of this pendent carries your heart with her.Or something personal and sweet. Finally, put a card in that tells her what she means to you. Sign it and write something meaningful and special. Try to be romantic. Don't do this while watching fox news or the history channel!

I would surprise her with flowers on her birthday morning anyway, set them on the kitchen table with a nice card! I always tell me husband that I don't want anything, but he gets me flowers anyway and I love it. I would also try to find something to personalize for her, like a beautiful locket, with an engraving on the back and pictures of the two of you inside, or pictures of your kids or her parents.... a keepsake. Something you picked out specially for her. Good luck. Make a reservation for a nice place, call her and tell her to get dressed up and present the gift at dinner.

Your time and your attention. Give her a coupon (homemade), stating that you will spend X amount of your time doing anything she would like to do (within reason, lol). Reassure her of your love and appreciation for her - that's the best gift any woman could ever ask for.
Or take her on a trip that you know she would enjoy and make sure she knows you are at her disposal.

Go to the World Vision website and get her a sponsor child. This is a gift that keeps on giving and changes someone's life who is not as blessed as you or your wife.

I would suggest for you to get your wife to make a list of things that she would like to have. Then you can pick from that list of things. That way...she cannot complain about her gift. and try to get her to be specific as possible. include a receipt with your gift in case it is something that she may change her mind on.
