WOW! I went thru a similar problem with an ex-g/f. However I didn't run from her to see my mother when things got hard.
I sought advice from my mother because in my mind, the relationship was over. I hope this doesn't worry you, but is this behavior normal for him? If it is not, then it might me a sign that he is ready to move on.
If it is normal then he (in my humble opinion) should mature up and face his problems and not run away from them.

Uh Oh. Sounds like a communication issue. I used to have trouble communicating effectively when I was angry or upset. Although I never ran on over to Mom's to get past it the inability to talk may just be fluster over the situation.

Encourage communication before the next argument and then you'll have a stance from which to initiate effective conversation -- should the event recur.

He probably has no where else to go, so he goes to mom's. He needs to find himself space there at the place he shares with you. However, there are much worse places for him to run towards, rather than mom's.

tell him to stop running away, tell him that u do not like it when he runs to his mom. He needs to be a man, and face a problem headon like a real man. how often do you fight.
