What does PA mean?

I think it might mean personal assistant, but i'm not sure. It has something to do with TV and Movie sets.

When you go to a music venue to hear a band you are listening to them play through a PA (public address system). A lot of singers buy a personal sized PA for small clubs and coffee houses.
