I'm talking about when your team doesn't make the playoffs (like my Reds), and all the teams you hate have been eliminated (like the Yankees), what do you go off of?

Right now I'm torn. I like rooting for the NL, but I also like to root for a team with fewer championships (StL has 9, Det has 4). More than anything, I'm hoping for a 7 game series.

"How can a Reds fan root cardinals? "

Because I'm a loyal fan of the NL. I don't really care much for LaRussa, 'Roids Pujols, and the rest of the bunch, but they're still the NL's team right now.

You root against the Yankee's!!! Or go by team city, if you another team in that same city show allegance. But ususally you just root for a good series, and the real outcome doesn't really matter. Until your team beats them next season, then your team has defeated the world champs!

Well, my team is in it this year (GO TIGERS) but when they are not which it has been lately, I usually root for the American League team unless it is the Yankees. I never, ever root for the Yankees.

I also root for teams close to home (Chicago last year) and teams who haven't been there for awhile (Cleveland a few years ago). Sometimes i root for a team because I really like a certain player (Arizona when Randy Johnson was there).

If all else fails I flip a coin. AND, if I really can't stand to pick either team that is in it (NY vs, NY) hockey season has already started!

I don't choose a team to root for. I watch the games because I love the games. The only teams I would root for is the teams that have not been there in a long time or ever but normally I would just rather watch the game.

I usually find a reason to cheer for one over the other, although some years it's easier than others.

It wasn't tough this time around after my Jays were, as usual, eliminated. I've been to more Tigers games than I have any other team, and I watched through the boring '90s and their struggles of the past few years. They're not my team, but they're definitely the team I'm rooting for this time around.

I'm from St. Louis. It's not really a question whom I'm going for. In the past, if the Cardinals have gotten knocked out, I root against the team that knock them out.

has anyone noticed, but most people pick there teams because they are homers, but when your team has been eliminated, then i say dont root for anyone, just watch the series, and you eventually will start rooting for either team.

Im rooting for the cardinals, because kenny rogers is a cheat.
By the way, tThe world series is pretty dull this year.

I root for Det, because they are likeable and the Cardinals or not. How can a Reds fan root cardinals?
