Yes in the sense you mean (sorry, but I refuse to imply that religion is science. Yes apart from that). If a religion is slightly wrong, then it will cause improper values in its followers and cause serious damage. Christianity (with the Crusades) would be an example of this (and I am Catholic, so I am willing to counsel anyone I offend herein). Because of its valuing the Holy Land, several wars were waged that weren't really necessary. There wasn't much in Christianity that caused this, but a call to pilgrimage caused the Pope to wan free pilgrimage, and this caused this outpouring of violence. This had benefits, but if Christianity had been different, it would not have happened. God was extremely careful in choosing exactly how religion works to minimise the bad effects of it and maximise the benefits. But in another way, it's more like life - if it doesn't work, there are plenty of fitter religions which can take a bad enough religion's place.

There really isn't anything people say when there is a task that is much concerned like that of "rocket science." There are just varying metaphors that people use, it doesn't always mean there is one to counter the action that is said, like rocket science.

I actually heard a story where some guy was trying to show a group of people how to do something. He said, "It's not Rocket Science!" One of the guys in the group stammers, " I am a rocket scientist!" ;) Funny...ain't it?
