Before you go into your employer, please have the following information in which to help you with negotiations.

You'll need to have comparative salaries in your area and other local surrounding areas, which are comparable to the job you are now doing for you current employer. You should have a "mini-resume" with you, (one copy for you and one for your employer) listing all the current responsibilities which you now take care of. Have key points of interest where you've directly helped the company to financially benefit in the long run. Refer to your years of service with the company and your past accomplishments.

After you have "laid all of your cards on the table", you can ease into the conversation of a pay raise.

Have a lovely rest of the day.

If you're negotiating with a current employer, submit a proposal. This worked for me and they doubled the increase they initially proposed.

I contacted three recruiters to find out what the going salary was for my position/duties and I looked at Salary.com too. And I provided my manager with a list of everything I've accomplished and what I my market rate is.

What's nice is that this year, he did the same thing I did last year and we came to the same wage increase.

Good Luck

Tell your employer that you have another job offer with competitive wages, but you're not yet sure if you want to take it.
