You can open them up if you like to use the pockets or you can leave them shut if you like the trimmer look. Depending on how the pants look on me is how I decide if I need to open the pocket or not.

You should be able to tell by looking at the inside of the pants whether or not there is a real pocket there. If you don't see a little cloth bag sewn into the seam, don't rip it open!

it's to keep the shape of the clothing. Imagine if every time some one tried the garment on in the shop people put their hands in the pocket...the clothes would be a right mess. You open them if you think you'll use them, but lots of people keep them sewn up as they use handbags and don't want to ruin the look of the outfit. It is the same for men, my boyfriend doesn't use some of his suit pockets so hie suit looks al sleek

they are not supposed to be worn sealed - most suits come with pockets sealed to prevent them from catching or bunching during transport and sale. you might want to double-check to feel for a lining for pocket before your rip away. Also check rear slits in jackets and women's skirts for sealed slits that should also be removed.

You should try them on before you open the pocket. Sometimes they are sewn closed to prevent them from sticking out.

usually the pockets of women dress pants are sewn to make the thigh look slimmer. its best to leave it that way. carry ur stuff in a purse instead.

There might not be real pockets behind those stitches. If there are, then it's fine to open them up

I really like long skirts. My bf wants the short ones. So my closet is crammed w/ 1/2 and 1/2.
