does anyone know any place i can learn and practice free programming? what language is the easiest? what should i do first? ive never programmed on anything else than my calculator, but that was just a bunch of "if" and "ifend" commands, nothing complicated, it just made formulas easier, as i can program it to ask for the variables and inpit them, like "V1?>A|A+3" type of commands, i want to learn, so a free compiler or something, a good website with some free content would be nice

For a programmer, finding out a brand new programming language is way, a lot less complicated than finding out a brand new spoken language. However, finding out a programming language will also be elaborate with out being able at programming already.

You'd better start with C++ you'll like it - it's very powerfull programming language! What about HTML- it's a descriptive language - you can create web sites with it - it's very VERY easy - you can learn it within hours!About C++ - you can find some on-line tutorials but you'd better get yourself a book! But it's not just the language - it's the way of thinking also - in the book you'll find some examples and lots of tasks that will be very helpfull!

I would recommend going to microsoft and downloading one of the free express edition IDEs. There are several different ones, VB, C++, C#, and J#. I'd recommend trying to use C#. You can read some tutorials on getting started and make a lot of progress quickly because of the great visual interface. Good luck! Here's a link to the express edition downloads: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/

Also, after you get started, a great place to search for good code examples is at The Code Project: http://www.codeproject.com/ You can download entire projects and build them yourself. This is great for learning because you can use a debugger to step through code and see what each piece does as well as change it and watch the results in your application.
