First, you'll need a cable to connect your cassette player to your sound card. If it's a mono player, then you might also need some kind of Y-connector cable to accurately split the signal into stereo left and right channels.
Then, to get acceptable results, you'll want some decent sound editing software. I'd go with either Adobe Audition, or the older version, which you might find at lower prices. It used to be called Cool Edit Pro.
After playing your cassette and capturing the sound in your choice of formats (MP3, WMA, etc), you can then use different filters and effects, like eliminating hiss).

Cassettes are analog, computer are digital, you would need to change the cassettes to digital.
