We don't have to fall in love, as if it were a requirement. We fall in love or are in love because we are human and have the ability to realize our emotions and feelings towards someone or something. It separates us from the lower species. Love in itself is a multi-tiered emotion that ranges from simple thoughts to total commitment and responsibility.
If your question relates to being in love with another person, than we fall in love so that we share a portion of ourselves with another. Love is about giving without demands on receiving. We do this because it gives a more complete sense of belonging, sharing, nurturing, etc. If love is reciprocated, we reap what we sow, so to speak.

We don't . Love is a choice, as well as a chemical reaction and fullfillment of our natural sexual needs. Love? Everyone has a different oppinion on what love is, but falling in love is optional. There is nothing wrong with falling in love, but I don't feel it is something humans need to do by any means.

It's something innate in our nature to look for love and nurturance from parents, children , relatives, friends , bfs and gfs, lovers our spouse. It's not just for procreation or we'd be like the animals although many of them mate for life as well.

All people crave love and affection from someone other than themselves,it's only those who have been severely abused or not nourished with love who feel no emotion at all.

It's called euphoria. Humans have a chemical reaction inside their brains toward a certain person. Maybe it is a smell or look that sets the alarm off. Maybe it is just timing. It gives us crazy feelings. If you ignore it, I've found that it eventually subsides. May take awhile, though. Without euphoria, I suspect the human race would also subside.

Because we are not made to be alone. We have this need to belong to someone, share ourselves with someone and be accepted as we are. So we fall in love and we expect it in return, cause to belong to someone who doesnt belong to you is not a true fulfillement. We are made like that. When God created Adam, he realised it is not good for Adam to be alone, so He made him Eve. People dont want to be alone, and I dont think falling in love just happens, I think we actively are searching to fall in love. Now why with some people and not with others, that is another thing that depends on the set on one s mind and many other factors.

Some people never do.

That's a Romantic myth. They've made a ton of money and trade with it though the years. But not strictly true.

To turn the old song on it's head, "You're Somebody Whether Or Not Nobody Loves You."
