A former Cardinal, the son of the great Cardinals play by play man pointing the finger all night at Kenny Rogers and the fact that "maybe" he was loading up the ball. Putting down just about every Tigers player for one thing or another. How great Jeff Weaver was after "finding himself" with the aid of the Cardinals management. They were giving no credit to the Tigers at all. These two guys make me sick. How does the network let them get away with it?

Just so you know, I'm a Phillies fan so I don't have a vested interest in the outcome of this world series. It just struck me that these two guys could get away with those types of comments.

Announcers, like some managers, have let the game pass them by. McCraver is one of those relics that needed to move on to other things. Joe Morgan is another example of a former player who is out of touch with todays game. No one cares about the '64 or '68 Cardinals. They were great in their day but that was a generation ago. It's not relative to today. Rogers dirty hand gave McCraver something to talk about. In the early innings he was basically calling Rogers a cheater but by the time the late innings arrived him was throwing so well that not even McCraver could deny it. Baseball needs new blood when it comes to color commentators. Football has done it in recent years and it has worked well. As far as Joe Buck, he was never really ready for prime time and still isn't. Looks like his late father had a lot of weight with the organization and the networks.

Joe B(s)uck is a homer and everyone knows it. Actually, Fox has a better play-by-play guy that used to work for the Tigers, then went to the Rangers about 5-6 years ago, occasionally did some Saturday Fox National broadcasts and did some of the ALDS games.

His name is Josh Lewin and he knows the game much like Buck does, but is very unbiased and does a great job of telling the story of each game. Unlike Buck, he does not come off as pompous when he calls the game and tells it more like a story as if you were listening to him on the radio.

As for McCarver, he is quickly becoming the Pat Summerall of MLB. McCarver commented during game 7 of the NLCS on the great catch by Endy Chavez by calling him Eric Chavez. He rarely provides any information that is of substance and is probably a year past his prime.

While his recent passing has taken away one of the greatest historians of baseball from us, I can't understand how Buck O'Neill was never a national color commentator. His stories during a game would have been marvelous and the fact that he forgot more baseball then most people know would have led to excellent commentary.

I thought that the national announcers were supposed to be unbiased but they sure aren't. I think that the media fueling something that they can never ever prove that sheds a bad light on a player during the game is just plain wrong!

The media, especially these two guys, are as bad as our government. They all take advantage of us and have way too much power.

The Tigers need to prove them wrong! I hate the lack of respect. The Pistons get it. The Red Wings get it. Even high acheiving U of M gets it.

I wouldn't like it if it were the other way either. Our local announcers are better at calling the games and not just giving thier opinions all the time. Half the time I bet those guys don't even know the count or what the heck inning it is.

GO TIGERS!

I agree with Craig S. Last night was totally uncalled for on the part of McCarver. With no proof what so ever he accused Rogers of doctoring up the ball. How bush league was that? As far as Joe Buck is concerned, he seems to have made a project of self promoting himself on the network. The spots are awful and should be taken off the air. Craig S is correct in saying that his depth of knowledge for the game is lacking. He really doesn't have much to say when he does football as well. He mostly depends on the color commentators to bail him out between snaps. As far as Jeff Weaver is concerned, I'd hardly say the a pitcher with a 86-101 lifetime win-loss record has "found himself"!

They are the worst in the business. Even "homer" announcers are better at respecting the other teams, and considering that the two Cardinal fans in the booth are supposed to be national level talent, and unbiased, it's really sad. There is no enjoyment factor to a game these fools are covering if it's not a team I root for, and even less when it is one I do root for.

Listening to these two idiots talk about teams that play against the Cardinals is like listening to Bob and Doug McKenzie cover an anti-beer rally!

I'm not a Cards or Tigers fan, but I agree that both - especially McCarver - are idiots.

McCarver has been getting steadily worse through the years, which is disappointing because at one time he actually said some intelligent things.

Joe Buck has his job because he has a good voice and a famous father. His own knowledge is lacking in a big way.

As much as I hate the combo of Joe Buck and Tim McCarver the combo of Joe Buck and Joe Morgan makes my blood boil. The common denominator is Joe Buck. How can you comment on the players or the play when you never played the game?

I totally agree with you. It's not just them though, there are so many announcers that are biased and obnoxious. Most of the time when I watch games I have to keep the sound muted, because I can't stand listening to their mouths run.

And I'm not a Cardinals or Tigers fan either.

I like Joe Buck but hate Time McCarver. McCarver thinks he knows everything. I wish I had the tape clip of Deon Sander repeatedly throwing water on Tim McCarver. That was funny.

Uggh......I can't stand those two. They make so many mistakes in their comments. When they do get the comments right, it's not all that great. For me personally, good and exciting comments spice up baseball games (if ur watching at home) but they're just not doing it.
