Many women report spotting around the time of the first missed period. This is usually called ”implantation bleeding,” and most women will go on and have a healthy baby. I would recommend doing a home pregnancy test, and looking at the results. Call your doctor if you experience any abdominal pain as this could mean an ectopic pregnancy (occurring outside the uterus). The pains may start out as a dull ache that gets more severe. Neck pains and shoulder pains are also common. You may also have a menstrual type of bleeding along with the pain, but the pain is the most obvious sign. I had implantation bleeding with my daughter, and though she was a premie, she is healthy, bright and normal. Best of luck.
