How do I get the mouse out of my pool?

I need help! I have a mouse in my pool who is stuck in there (he can't climb up the wall) and I don't want to "rescue" him and then have him take refuge somewhere on my house/property (I'm sure if there is ONE there is his whole family residing somewhere nearby). I have a pool enclosure, and only a short net so have the heebie jeebies and too afraid to "net" him, open the pool enclosure door, and get him onto my lawn for fear he will take refuge in or near my house, back yard, and don't want him near me. I can't afford a pest control company to come and remove him. What do you suggest? I live alone w/my 4 yr. old daughter, so this is purely a mom's one person job and as you can tell, too afraid to "net" him (he'll crawl up the net pole onto my arm!) and too afraid to "kill" him (ew, blood!). The mouse just keeps swimming around and is hanging on the automatic pool vacuum hose for dear life. Do I watch him die a slow death? Stuart Little makes me think he's too cute to die.

I think your only choice is to net him. He will not crawl up the pole because he is so tired. I have an in-ground pool and I have mice in there all of the time. I "net" them and they just lie there all sad and tired and then I put him in the woods. I have never had them come in my house. He had to come from somewhere near your house so just place him back there. If you are worried about him coming back, set a "Decon" trap. They are the traps that kill the mouse and you never have to see it. You just see a dot that tells you it is captured and you throw it away. Home Depot has them. Otherwise, definitely ask someone to do it. Your final option is to let him die and then net him and throw him out. They can't swim forever and if you take the vacuum hose out, he will probably start floating by tonight.

Net it. Not once in 15 years pulling out everything from deer to skunks, rabbits, birds, chipmonks, squirrels,frogs and a dog, have I ever had a mouse that was netted, do anything but sit on that net, grateful just to not be swimming anymore. He'll stay there if you slowly take him to the door. As for worrying about more mice outside, I hate to break it to you, but there are likely many out there already. One more won't make a difference.

you are gonna have to net it hun...part of owning a pool....i had to net a bird recently....just make sure you have something handy to cap off the net right away, then take it down the road and release it, it won't be back. but...bad news....if there is one, there are more, so you may want to set some mouse poison out there, but make sure your daughter and any pets can not find it.

Well I think you are going to have to buck up and net him if you don't want to see him die. They are tough little guys, so if you don't want him taking refuge in your yard, fling him like you are playing lacrosse.

Or get a shoe box and lid...poke holes in it, top and bottom, scoop him up in box while quickly closing lid. The excess water will pour out holes in bottom. Set him free in nearby field.

First drain the pool, so the mouse is not in danger of drowning. I assume you know how to drain the pool. It generally involves running a hose out to the municipal drain, and then either siphoning or pumping out the water.

Then want you need is called a "humane mouse trap". You can yahoo search for where to buy them.

Get the net......be brave. It won't crawl up the pole. Either that or let it die. You've been watching too many movies!!!!!

Call your local animal control. Dog catcher, etc.
That's their job to deal with all animal problems.

Awe...you need to rescue him! Do you have any friends or maybe neighbors...or family? Call someone and get him out!! That is CRUEL!
