I have decided to get a master's in social work. My question is, how competitive is admission into these programs? Are they very competitive? I heard the GRE is not required, which is good because I am terrible in Math. Also, for anyone that is getting their MSW, are you happy with your choice?

I did get it and currently do not work in the field. Social Work has a tendency to become very overwhelming and you become burnt out easily, especially if you are working with high risk pops. Plus you completely do not get paid enough for what you do!! Maybe I will go back to it evidently but I was really burnt out.

i would strongly suggest you consider getting a PhD D. i have an MSW and have 13 yrs of post grad professional experiences and i wish i would have gotten an advanced psych degree. I have pretty much resolved that i will con't to be underpaid, under appreciated in this profession. If i could be respected then the money wouldn't matter so much.

Social work is a wonderful profession but can be extremely challenging. The pay is not very attractive and the turnover rates of employees are very high. If you are extremely motivated, fine and good. I am thinking about switching careers.
