I am 17 weeks pregnant and I am really showing. I have gained 2 lbs upto now and I am 5'0, weigh about 135. I do not have any cravings, I walk every day and eat very healthy. My sister-in-law said that it can be too much amniotic fluid. But my doctor has said that I am fine. I have the "big" ultrasound next Monday where they measure the baby. My sister-in-law is also due around the same day, but she is heavier...about 180 lbs and is not showing....is anyone else showing at 17 weeks????

Sweetie, I started showing at 8 weeks. By the time I was 10 weeks, it was obvious to everyone that I was pregnant!
Everyone is different. Please don't go on constantly comparing yourself to your sister in law.

Hey there - I think all these other helpful ladies have the right idea - every pregnancy is unique, so don't worry about a thing, your doctor would immediately advise you if anything was abnormal. Forget about the size you become, the size of others, and just focus on the joys of pregnancy and your baby!
If it reassures you, I am 17 weeks also, I have lost 7 pounds from horrid "all-day" sickness, but my belly has definitely popped. I'm 5'5 and 120 pounds but you can't deny I'm pregnant, and I'm proud! When else can a female feel completely comfortable with her body and not worry about sucking in her tummy! Embrace it!
Good luck to both you and your sister in law through your pregnancies - all the best.

Since you are petite and on the smaller side, you will show earlier than your 180 pound SIL. She will show in a couple of weeks. I was overweight when I was pregnant and although I could tell I was showing, I didn't look pregnant until about 5 1/2 or 6 months. Listen to your doctor, not anyone else. Your "big" ultrasound will tell you if there is anything to worry about.

I'm not pregnant but I remember my pregnancy years rather well. I am a heavy woman and with every single one of my kids (I've had 4), I was showing by that time. At 6 mo. pregnant often times I was asked if I was over due. I think alot of how early you show is how you carry the baby and in my case my babies were all rather large, 8 lbs 6 oz being the smallest.

Because you started out small it doesn't take much to make you show. All women are different and will carry babies different as well. Even each pregnancy is different. With my first child I didn't show much until I was about 5 months pregnant. With my third I was showing at around 10 weeks. I felt like I was pregnant forever.

I was showing at 17 weeks. it will take her longer because she carries more weight (more room for the baby to hide). It also depends on the person.

Good luck with the ultrasound and BABY!!

PS: there can never be "too much" amniotic fluid....LoL

yup...I was i am 19 weeks today...but I was showing at 17...pregnancy affects every womens body differently...the fact that you are smaller does have a great deal to do with it....and the fact that your sister in law isnt showing yet may very well be due to the fact that she is heavier...just relax..your fine..if you have only gained 2 pounds so far and everything is going good..then chill..ur good.

I wasn't actually showing but at 10 weeks I could no longer fit into any of my clothes. By 17 weeks if you knew me, you could definately tell that I was pregnant. Its okay to be showing now especially considering you height. You probably don't have enough abdominal room so the baby has to grow out. It perfectly normal.

I just had dinner with a friend of mine Friday night. She claims to be two months pregnant. I only see her like every few months. I about fell over when I saw her because she certainly looked a lot farther along than 2 months! I asked if perhaps she was carrying a litter in there! Anyway, she text messaged me this morning to say that she had an ultrasound and that she was just 10.5 weeks along and that there was just one in there.

I am 15 weeks pregnant and starting to show. I am 5'3" and I was 120 before I started gaining weight... I only gained about 5 pounds so far, but it's all in the belly. This is a pic of me at 14 weeks. Good luck!

Every pregnancy is different. If somethign were not right, your doctor would have told you. I was showing at 17 weeks...and some of my friends werent...some were bigger than me, etc. If there was any reason to be alarmed, your doctor would have ordered more tests right away, rather than saying nothing at all, or even waiting until the big scan you are scheduled for. I think you are just fine. ;)

Congrats!
