My husband and I are trying to concieve our first baby, everytime I get my peiod its like someone stabbed a knife through me.
If you have been in this situation, how did you feel better, what kept your morale up?
I am a really upbeat person, and people are starting to notice my mood changes.
How hard was it? Am I overreacting?

I know what you are going through and I feel for you. It took 13 months to conceive my daughter, which included a miscarriage along the way. We are in our 6th month ttc again.

First of all, let me strongly suggest making an appointment with your OBGYN. When I hear someone say "stop trying and it will happen", I just cringe. Many times there are medical conditions that prevent conception and the ability to carry a pregnancy. I know this from experience. Doctors have the knowledge and the resources to diagnose problems and help solve them. Many fertility problems, such as an anovulatory cycle (when you don't ovulate), can be helped with medications, such as Clomid. A fertility specialist isn't always necessary. Most OB's can help with fertility issues.

It can get depressing month after month playing the waiting game and then getting the negative results. This can add stress to you and your husband, which then can interfere with conception. Instead of wasting valuable time playing this waiting game, talk to your doctor. You don't have to try for a year before seeking professional help. Many couples, especially those ttc for the first time, really don't know enough about the reproductive process to be successful right away. Trust me, this is not an insult to you. Chances are if you aren't one of the few lucky ones that go into it blindly and conceive right away, then you'll probably have to work at it. The more you educate yourself on the subject, the easier it will get. Not only to conceive, but to deal with some of the disappointment.

Also, check out fertilityfriend.com. There is valuable information on this site to chart your bbt and help your chances for conception. Best of luck to you and keep positive.

Good luck!

You are not overreactting. I am in the same boat as we have been trying for 7 months.

Most importantly find out when you are ovulating by using an ovulation predictor kit. The whole 14 day thing is just wrong so please don't listen to it. It all depeds how long your cycle is as to when you will ovulate.

Get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It will answer a lot of questions whether or not you decide to chart. I will tell you this charting can potentially answer a lot of questions if you don't conceive. I.E. If your luteal phase isn't long enough to sustain a pregnancy, if your miscarrying, etc. That way if it does take a long time at least you can present your charts to your doctor and not be sent home with the "chart for 4 months and then come back."

I personally got pregnant after a month of being married... we decided to try on a child, and BAM... figured out ovulation date and missed my next period. I can only say if you've been trying for a year go see a fertility doctor. I don't know if you know how to calculate your ovualtion date... but the day you get your period is day 1 of your cycle... count up to day 14, and that is the approximate day. Do the deed on days 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16. Once a day. If your hubby has a normal sperm count this is NOT too often. If he has a low count do it just on the even dates. Hope this helps hun! Also... I dunno if it helped... but after he goes inside you, prop a pillow under your butt to keep the sperm in, and watch tv for like 15 minutes before letting it drain out... GOOD LUCK!

No, that's normal. It only took us 2 months with our first one, and I was a wreck after the first month. My poor sister tried for 5 years before finally conceiving- she said she'd down a bottle of wine every month when she got her period. Hang in there. Start getting tested with your doctor- you'll feel like you're being proactive and that will help keep your spirits up. In the mean time, don't stop dreaming- they told my sister she was NOT CAPABLE of conceiving. Even if you never do, there are plenty of other options, so stay positive and believe in your future.

I am in the same vote. We have been trying to conceive for four months and still waiting for that exciting moment. I just try to think positive and hope that it will happen very soon. It could be so discouraging though. We have been having sex every other day and I am due for my period on the 26th. I hope this is my lucky month.

Good Luck to you and don't give up!

Go onto yahoo search and type in online ovulation predictors. A bunch of sites will come up. I don't quite remember the name of the one I went to but you can type in the first day of your last period and it will tell you your most fertile days and the day that you will ovulate ( based on their prediction) Try in the those days and some extra days, also check out your local pharmacy. They should have ovulation kits there, that are based on you bodily secretions.

When you can't get pregnant, and things look good from the outside, it can be extremely frustrating.
The first thing to consider is how long have you been trying. About 80% of couples will get pregnant after six months of trying, and about 90% will be pregnant after 12 months of trying to get pregnant. Anyway this is a great methid to get pregnant fast https://tr.im/fd75a
