The term Bigfoot was coined by a newspaper reporter in Eureka California in 1958 (or thereabouts). There was a foreman named Jerry Crew who took casts of prints of a bipedal giant that was walking around the road he was building above Bluff Creek. His picture holding the footprints casts electrified much of the country. This was a very interesting story. There were sightings later in the area. It is very near to where Roger Patterson filmed the Bigfoot. Bigfoot, the animal, has been around obviously much longer. There are native American stories and legends that go back thousands of years. Bigfoot is a nocturnal animal, probably descended from Gigantopithecus or one of the upright hominids such as early Homo erectus. The footprints of Bigfoot show that it has a structure consistent with what a physical anthropologist would predict for a creature of that size. Its foot is flexible, meaning it is not tied up into a arch like ours. I am pretty sure I heard one one night very near to where Roger Patterson filmed the creature. The sound of it walking up on us was so distinct. I could hear the rolling motion of its foot as it sunk into the ground giving an obvious impression of extreme size and weight. You could hear the gravel crunching under its weight. Actually it was quite terrifying.

Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is believed by some to be an ape-like cryptid and by others to be the product of imagination.

Bigfoot is sometimes described as a large, bipedal hairy hominoid creature living in remote forested wilderness areas of the United States and of Canada, specifically those in south western Canada, the Great Lakes, the Pacific Northwest, the Rocky Mountains, the forests of the U.S. Northeast, and the U.S. Southern states. Some think that a Bigfoot, or its close relatives, may be found around the world under different regional names, such as the Yeti. Sightings of similar creatures have allegedly occurred in Malaysia, China, Russia, Australia, South America.[1][2]

The majority of scientists reject the likelihood of such a creature's existence, and consider the stories of Bigfoot to be a combination of unsubstantiated folklore and hoax (Boese 2002:146-7) [3] [4] [

Highly doubtful that Bigfoot ever existed. All the so-called evidence is a short grainy film and maybe some dubious footprints.

The only person I know about CLAIMED he discovered bigfoot.
NAME: Patterson
YEAR: 1967
EVIDENCE: Home movie film, showing a large creature walking through the woods
UNEXPLAINED: many question the way the creature is walking. Could it have been faked; many say it couldn't have been a man in a suit.
