As long as you're both adults and everything between the two of you mesh in terms of beliefs, humor, trust, honesty, and maturity, then why not?
My husband and I are 10 years apart. However we not only get along well, but he and I compliment each other well. Sometimes I know things he doesn't, or he knows things well before my time.
I don't think he's old. he's serious about important matters like finances and such, but he can be a total kid at heart.
And don't let yourself feel old. That's no way to live life.

A general rule I like is:
[Your Age] / 2 + 7
For example if you are 30, 30/2 + 7 = 22 years would be the youngest woman you should date to meet 'socially acceptable standards'.
According to the same formula, then 18 years old would be the maximum age to date a 16 year old girl.
Of course we all have our own 'social standards' and you would have to decide for yourselfs whether an age gap is OK.
Also, I would make sure that she is over the age of consent in your juristiction! (Many places in US its 18.. so jail bait!)

You didn't say how old you were. A 16 year old young lady is very impressionable so, if you are older than she is you are the one responsible and you should act it. If you are more than 2 years older than her it is a felony in the US. So, I would think about that seriously before it went any further.

You are 16 years older than her? I guess it depends on her age. If she's 16 and you're 32 that's creepy. If she's 36 and you're 52, then not so bad.
