It depends on when you are talking about, since in modern computers, there can be more or less than 3 "major" parts.
Historically, there was a Bank Of Memory, a Processor, and an Input/Output subsystem.
These days, there are drop-in circuit boards for graphics, math/physics, broadcast TV, game controllers, sound processing, GPS, weather, etc.
