Dick Eney is correct - there are loads of them, more like hundreds than dozens, however. This was a very common symbol in ancient Egypt, and just to give one example, the entire processional way (a distance of three kilometers) between the Luxor temple and the Karnak temple was lined with sfinxes on both sides, spaced just a few yards apart on each side. The famous one at Giza was probably the largest, however.

There are dozens of them. The human-headed sphinx near the Pyramids of Egypt, which is the one most of us think of first, is the largest, but there are smaller ones, singly and in groups, all over Egypt -- some human-headed ("androsphinxes"), some ram-headed ("criosphinxes"), others with lion's heads ("leontosphinxes"). There are also similar creatures with eagle's heads, but these are griffins rather than sphinxes.

There are also sphinxes of various sorts all over Europe and America, but these are imitated from the Egyptian sphinx, so they don't really count as "second" sphinxes -- they're more like carbon copies of the original.
