A low lying placenta is quite a common thing. If it was picked up on your 18-20 anomoly scan then you should have been offered another scan later in the pregnancy to see if it has moved. As your uterus and baby grow, so will the placenta and there is every chance it will uncover the cervix. If it dosen't though you'll probably need to considered the possibility of having a c-section. good luck!

unless the dr says you have limitations, you DO NOT need bed rest. How far along are you? Did your doc say it was placenta previa? I have FULL placenta previa and I am not on bed rest, however, I cannot be on my feet alot and I cannot move heavy things. Do whatever your dr advises. The placenta has a chance to migrate if you are early in the preg, but if you have full previa, the chances are slim. I'm 27 weeks preg, no bed rest yet!

Take it easy and I would check with your dr. There is no danger to you or the little one unless you start to bleed, which is usually painless. The dr will tell you what's going on. Make sure you know so you can do whatever is best for you, and be aware of warning signs...hope this helps!

Are you still early in pregnancy?
If you are early, the placenta can move up some still. The concern would be the placenta being in the way of the cervix when it is time for the baby to be born. If the placenta covers the cervix, then you would need a c/s.

Yes and no. The doctor will watch you to make sure the placenta does not cover the cervix. You are also at a higher risk of having your placenta seperate from your uteras prematurely. This is very very common so do not worry it just means the doctor will be more watchful with you

I had a low lying placenta at 20 weeks, there is nothing they could do just hope that it moves. I was scanned again at 32 weeks and it had moved up. I was told that if it didn't move up by my due date then I would have to have a c-section. They also said that this only happened now and then.

It's something to worry about ONLY if it doesn't move higher late in your pregnancy and during labor (then you have to have a c-section). Only 0.5% placenta stays low during labor. A low lying placenta right now may cause you bleeding, so avoid excessive standing, no heavy lifting.

Your doctor should have told you when he informed you of your low-lying placenta. I don't think there's anything to avoid. So long as it's just low-lying, there's no complications related with that. Placenta previa is when it covers the cervix, and that only has serios issues when a woman goes into labor.

depends on HOW low the placenta is... if it is covering your cervix... then yes, you would have to have a c section. You would not be able to deliver vaginally.
