You could try this first:

Step 1: Harden the gum by rubbing it with a cube of ice.
STEP 2: Scrape off what you can with a dull-bladed butter knife. STEP 3: Rub the area with a pre-treatment enzyme product or liquid laundry detergent.
STEP 4: Launder as usual.

There is a product called Motsenbocker's Lift Off #2 that is supposedly the greatest but not sure if it is available at Home Depot

RIGHT TRUST ME!!!

A WEEK AGO I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM £150 AQUASCUTUM LAMBSWOOL JUMPER WAS COVERED IN LOADS OF CHEWING GUM.... I SMUTHERED THE CHEWING GUM THOROUGHLY WITH LOADS AND LOADS OF PEANUT BUTTER (APPARENTLY SMOOTHE WORKS BEST BUT I ONLY HAD CRUNCHY). LEAVE THE ITEM SOMEWHERE AT ROOM TEMPERATURE FOR ABOUT 10 DAYS.... THEN JUST PEEL OFF THE PEANUT BUTTER, THE CHEWING GUM WILL BE GONE AND THEN JUST PUT THE GARMENT IN THE WASH AS NORMAL, OR WASH BY HAND IF ITS DELICATE.

I PROMISE THIS WORKS, I NEARLY THREW AWAY AN EXPENSIVE, LOVELY JUMPER

GOOD LUCK

Whatever you do, don't try fluffy bunny's suggestion of ironing it, even with a piece of paper over it. That'll only melt it and spread it even more over the clothing. You use an iron and blotting paper to remove wax!

Try the suggested sites below:

Nail varnish remover, or paint solvent will do it, then rinse and wash immediately. I used this method on my shoes and carpets when I walked the darned stuff in. Not a sign of it left.

GooGone - sold in any laundry supply aisle. It works great to remove any sticky residue - like stickers accidentally left on kids shirts that you wash or gum.

usually nothing works if I am going to be honest. I hate to disappoint you but if the gum has gone deep into the weave it is a lost battle!

I'm a dry cleaner of many years and i could usually clean it with the usual process, maybe with a little help from my expertise you could post it to me, no charge if i am unsuccessful. Other than normal postage charges.
