It is common in third world countries for parents to entrust orphanages to care for their children while the parent maintains custody and visitation, particularly when the mother of the child has passed away and the only parent is the father who must work outside the home.

So when the father of a little boy in Africa signed papers for pop queen Madonna to provide for his son, he thought he would still have parental rights and would get his son back once the child was older.

Now Madonna has taken the child and there is question as to whether or not she will be giving the child back to the father in Africa.

What do you think the right thing to do is in this case?

I think that there were a lot of misinterpretrations and crossed wires in communication because of the cultural differences. I'm truthfully not surprised that the man thought he would still be seeing his son. He and his family have stated on several instances that they would want to visit him a lot after the adoption went through. It didn't seem as if he realized that letting Madonna adopt his son meant that she got to keep his son with her at all times. I think that if Madonna was to adopt the boy that she should at least let David have access to his family. Much like an open adoption we have here in the US. This guy was not a man who just left his son alone in the orphanage, he diligently visited his son several days every week and would bike miles to see him. He just couldn't take care of his son and add to this the fact that his wife is gone and his other two children got sick and died. In their culture, the father can not take care of a child by himself. He should be allowed to still have access to his son. Madonna can adopt David if she wants to, but she can't ignore the fact that he has a family who by all accounts love him but just can't care for him and a culture different from her own that David should be exposed to.

I think that Madonna should allow the father visitation rights and that the father should also be happy that his child will be taken care of and not want for anything ever.

If she had used the money she wasted trailing the people that are "part of her entourage" to sponsor children she would have made a better impact.
Then again she would not have gotten the publicity, that child will be looked after by a nanny most of the time while she is gallivanting around the world.

If I were her the boy would be back with his father but I would give him a lot of money so he could raise the boy.
