I always have this problem when I, last minute, decide to stay over in friend's houses.

Easy "solution" is to purchase a small bottle of the pre-made solution and carry it with you. If you go see your optometrist (or the assistant), ask if they have a free small sample bottle. Those are even smaller than the ones you can purchase, and perfect for carrying. Most of the time, they'll just give you a bottle or two.

NEVER use anything other than those made just for the purpose. Pure water does not dis-infect and you could get eye infection very easily.

Your eyes are so important that you must not make any homemakde solution for your contact lenses. I know there is a travelling size of contact lens solution for sale in most of the drug store, go get one and put it in your bag or car! NEVER use or made any solution for your contact lens!

i also have the same problems before... distilled water is the solution. always keep one handy! but this is just for overnights, for emergencies!
