Restart your PC and as it starts back up press the F8 key then start in SAFE MODE (first selection at top). You will see the administrator login after the OS starts up and goes to login. After that go to the Control Panel and User Profiles and change the passwords.
This mainly works for WINDOWS so I hope that is what you have.

I had this problem once and this was the only way to override the created User problems. After that I downloaded UPHClean from Microsoft.com which helps keep everything together for each user on shutdown. I haven't had the problem since.

If it is a business PC at work, you may want to contact your local helpdesk and get the password reset.

If it's your home PC - my suggestion is to contact the OS Manufacturer (Microsoft tech-support, if it's Windows). They have work arounds for this sort of thing - it's gonna cost you, though!
