for a few days i have had such bad pains in my upper stomache that it wakes me from sleep at night, i havent eaten anything or done anything out of the ordinary, i am under a lot of stress but that is always in my life, someone said i could have an ulcer, or it could be acid reflux all i know is right under the sternum, in the center of the top of my tummy i get bad pains, it almost feels like a hunger pain but it quits at the point your stomach should make the growl during the hunger pang, i am certainly not one for going to the dr. was hoping someone could tell me maybe what this sounds like or any tricks to determine if it is an ulcer or acid reflux and what can i do to alleviate the pains, esp. at night.

Sounds very familiar to me!! It could be gallstones, which need to be treated by a doctor, which I have had. Or if and when you go to the doctor ask them about H-pylori. H-pylori is a bacteria in your stomach that can only be treated by antibiotics and an acid reducer. If not treated it can cause ulcers which can lead to erosion of your esophagus and further problems. In the meantime until you see a doctor, take prilosec or zantac.

If in England, telephone NHS Direct (Tel: 0845-4647) and talk to a professional nurse. To verify for appendicitis - get him to lie on his again, then think a triangle with the backside line from the highest of his correct hip to his stomach button. The 3rd factor of the triangle going the identical distance into his stomach. Put strain in this factor - if this factors severe soreness then it's viable his appendix is giving him disorders. Go on your nearest Emergency Room. If the suffering is in best left hand facet, beneath his ribs, he can have a belly ulcer. If an ulcer bursts, he would have a gastro-intestinal bleed which isn't well information. He relatively will have to search clinical recommendation, soonest.

Stomach pain or bellyache may be caused due to a problem in the organs in the abdominal region. The main organs in the abdomen are the digestive system consisting of the stomach, small and large intestines, the liver, the gall bladder , pancreas, the appendix and the kidney. Minor problems like gastroenteritis can cause severe pain, while fatal illnesses like cancer may cause only mild pain. You should go to the doctor. Take antacids in the meantime. Hopefully it won't be something serious.
