It depends on the specific journey you're making, but the cheapest return you can buy *without* a Railcard is an Apex Return routed via Honiton, at £24.50.

This is subject to availability and has to be booked at *least* 7 days in advance.

The cheapest return *with* a Railcard is a SuperAdvance Return, priced at £23.35, and again routed via Honiton.

As with the Apex, this is subject to availability, but only has to be booked by 6pm the day before travel.

If you take the faster route into London Paddington, the Advance Purchase fares are now only available as Single tickets, and marketed as "firstminutefares", with prices starting from as little as £13.00 each way.

As with the SuperAdvance, these have to be booked by 6pm the day before. They do *NOT* attract a Railcard discount, however.

If you just turn up on the day to buy the ticket, the cheapest is a Saver Return, which is £64.20 via Honiton *without* a Railcard, or £65.00 into Paddington. (£42.40 via Honiton or £42.90 into Paddington *with* a Railcard).

The Railcard itself, which can now be bought online, is £20 for a year and gets you a 34% discount on most tickets.

You need to travel from Barnstable to Exeter and from Exeter to Paddington. Then take the Tube to Waterloo. Stop at the Lost Luggage Office!!

It may be quicker to go from Exeter to Paddington and then to Waterloo on the underground, but the route via Honiton will be cheaper but will take a little longer. So if time is not crucial then the slower route would be best.

Speak to your Barnstaple train station or ask National Rail Enquiries http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ on 08457 484950. You'll get a third off regular fares but the railcard may cost you about £20.
