if i recorded a television programme in u.k. and sent it to my relatives in ontario, would they be able to play it on a canadian video player.

Possibly not. In the UK, we use a video broadcasting system called PAL, where as Canada uses a system called NTSC. As far as I know, there is an incompatibility problem.

As long as they have a multi-player they can. The UK plays PAL and the Americans/Canadians play NTSC, I bought a cheap multi system and sent it to my friend in the U.S so we can keep upto date with the soaps. Sad I know!

no tape run at different speeds

i think its 28 frames per sec in uk
and 26.8 for US and Canada
