Calm down first and foremost. I found my first lump at about your age and panicked thinking I had cancer. (I have a strong family history of breast cancer including my sister having lost a breast in her 30's from it.)
While cancer is not as common in women your age, yes it is a possibility. I personally have fibrocystic breast disease. This can become quite painful when I intake large amounts of caffeine. Contrary to popular belief, caffeine does NOT cause this problem (see 1st link below), but can make the symptoms of it worse.
Only your doctor can tell for sure. However, if he/she blows you off because of your age, insist on a mammogram or ultrasound on the lump. It is not common, but breast cancer does happen in younger women. It's better to be safe than sorry.
Also, this is the perfect month to have a mammogram because the mammography centers will have lower prices for women without insurance or their insurance won't pay for it because of your age.
Hang in there and think positive. You could even call your local Susan G Coleman Foundation office. Check out all the links on the site below for more information.

It all depends on where you found the lump. If you found it under your arm near your arm pit and it is even a little painful when you apply pressure then it's not breast cancer. As a matter of fact no matter where the lump is if you apply pressure to the lump and it is painful at all then it's not cancer. If the lump is closer to your arm pit it could be a buildup of your deodorant. Lots of women have this happen to them. If that's the case all you can do to fix it is switch to an aerosol deodorant until the lump goes away. Just don't stress over it. You are doing the right thing by going to see your doctor. Just don't rule out some of the more simple things that it could be. It would be pretty unusual for you to have breast cancer at such a young age. It does happen but not very often.

It is probably nothing significant, but definitely get it checked out. Breast cancer is not very common in young women.
It could just be a cyst. These are common among women, especially young women. If it has been there for sometime the doctor will probably do an ultrasound or mammogram to be safe. They may even go as far as a biopsy to be sure.
If you have just noticed the lump recently it may go away on its own. When you check your breasts for lumps, be sure to do it after your period because before there is more chance of finding some lumps and bumps because breasts tend to be swollen and retaining fluid before your period.
My mom gets cysts occasionally in her breasts and they have to be surgically removed, but there has never been any other problems.
I hope all goes well for you. I will say a prayer that everything is alright for you.
Best wishes.

Finding a lump at any time is a very scarey thing. Its easy to tell someone to relax. I know but really, you do need to just relax. Getting worked up and stressed is not going to help.
When I found my first lump I totally panicked. Turns out that it was a buildup of sorts from an infection I had. ( i had a sliver in my finger that got infected ) well. I got the sliver out and the infection moved from one place to another. So have you been sick? Or had any type of infection? That could be the culprit.
My oldest son also had a lump. Right under his nipple. It was very large and very noticeable. I freaked again. The doc told me it was a mass, and they went in and removed it. Turns out that apparently when kids reach puberty sometimes they have enlarged glands or whatever and that it is not uncommon for kids or boys to get this.
The thing I am trying to get across is that yes! go to your doctor. But, just relax until you know for sure that there is something definitive to worry about. That lump could be there for a multitude of reasons. And sometimes the reason is simple. Only your doctor can tell you for sure so definately keep you appointment.

First make sure you do see your doc and have a mammogram asap. Some lumps turn out to be fibro tumors which are non cancerous caused by caffeine. Whatever this lump is the only way to go is to your doc's office asap. Good luck. And also make sure he/she sends you for a mammogram, you have a lump that needs to be checked regardless of your age.

I hope that you see your doctor very soon! The info about pain means no cancer and no pain means cancer - NOT TRUE!!! Women can get breast cancer at your young age. Good for you for finding it and taking action!

Be calm, every body is different, so first hear your doctor, and once you know what you really have, you can talk to others with similar conditions, but you are very young and you are doing the right thing going to your doctor, don't worry
