Don't knock it my boyfriend is ginger and hes fab. Ginger people should be proud of what they've got cos its different from the norm. And ginger hair can come in different shades of red hence the different names. Why do so many people choose to dye their hair red? that must say something.

Ginger people get a lot of abuse about their hair colour so they're sensitive about it because of that. There's different types of ginger you know, maybe that's why they're calling it the names for the different types of ginger?

Gingers should be very proud. Only true redheads really look good with ginger hair. Others can never find the perfect match.

i'm red head but i prefered to be called aurburn. when i go shopping i have strangers call me names in the street and make fun of my hair colour. i respect that some people do not like this hair colour but how would they like it if they were bullied 24/7 over hair? thats why some are sensitive over their hair colour.

Ginger is a spice and in no way relates to the colour of my hair.
See link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ginger, does the colour of this resemble my red hair in any way?
There are many different shades of red hair and this is why some of us would have not call it all the one colour.People with brown hair would also say light brown, dark brown etc, so people with red hair would be no different, why would they be?
Also, many people are teased for having red hair and this would encourage them to call their hair colour "strawberry blonde".
Why have people got an issue with red heads?

Because there are many shades of ginger. It's just specification.

I have brown hair, but it's not dark brown, it's not matte, and it's not reddish. It's light brown with a gold hint, so to specify it in one word I have to call it "ash."

They probably got teased as kids. There was a kid in a class I taught who had ginger hair, and the type of freckles our head teacher described as "more freckles than face." To top it off, he rejoiced (!) in the name of "Hannibal". (What were his parents thinking?) He was called "Hannibal the Animal" and teased mercilessly. But then he put on a growth spurt, shot up head and shoulders taller than his classmates and learned judo...end of problem.
