My friend's car was stolen in Texas 14 months ago insurance was filed and paid off the value which left her to pay th balance. She was upside down. The car was recovered maybe 7 months ago and the police had it towed to her house. She contacted the insurance company and they have yet to come and get their car. Everyone tells her to replace the interior and have it repaired as it looks as though it would only take a few thousand dollars to restore it to its previous condition. Obviously that would be pointless since she no longer possesses legal title to the car.
She knows it is not her car, but is there anything she can file to "inherit" the car since the insurance co has abonded it?

I would make an offer to the insurance company and keep it. Who knows they may just be happy to be rid of it.

It is now under junk title and can never be placed back on the road legally again. She should have the ins com take it away or have it towed at there expence.

hay if i was her and you wanted to make a buck or two call the insurence company and ask them to buy the car (if it worth it) and then fix it and sell it
my brother did that with a saturn, he hit a deer and compleatly riped apart the pasenger side. the insurence company totaled the car and gave my bro like $2500 for the car then he turned around and bought the car from them for like $500 (what it was worth in scrap) drove it around for a while and then sold it for like $750.
